No one's going to find a point to this post

When I can, I try to make my posts about something. But lately I'm in a meandering thoughts kind of mood. There is no unifying theme to this post. In fact, I can't even give you a good reason why I'm making you suffer through a Goudey card of Jeff Kent, other than that it was sent to me by Jeremy of No One Is Going to Read This Blog, and I'm going to show some stuff he mailed my way.

Oh, and Kent was with the Giants the last time I rooted against them in the World Series. Go, Rangers.

OK, here is where I really start to meander.

I am trying to condense my sidebar a little bit. It's getting overgrown. I started by creating a page for the Define the Design feature and putting a link on the sidebar. But what I really want to do is create tabs at the top of the page for a lot of the features. It would make things so much cleaner.

But I can't figure out how to create more than one tab at the top of the page. I can create the "home" tab and then I'm stuck. Blogger's tab feature makes no sense to me. But I know several bloggers have figured it out, because they have these nifty tabs across the top of their pages. So I am pleading with one of those folks to please help me and explain how you can create them.

If you could leave an explanation in the comments or email me I'd appreciate it. I'm sure I'm just being dense about it, as I don't read computerese. Thanks for your assistance.

All right, onto the stuff that Jeremy sent.

He recently held a contest and the prize was a sketch card of favorite player. I requested a card of Orel Hershiser.

Here it is:

Isn't that great? I would think Hershiser would be an interesting subject to draw, so that's why I picked him, and Jeremy really came through.

It's awesome what bloggers have been able to do with their own cards. The ones I have hold a special place in my collection.

I have some drawing talent myself. In fact, I saved a handful of the "You Sketch It" cards from Topps in the hopes of making a card or two of my own. But I haven't done anything because 1) I'm lazy and a good drawing takes time; and 2) I doubt I could come up with something that I'd be happy enough with to show on the blog.

But it's still a possibility.

That is the back of the card. It's only slightly less cool then the front. People really put their all into these things, don't they?

He also sent a handful of other, more pedestrian, cards:

A mini from 2010 A&G. I haven't pulled a single Dodger mini from this set. The few I have are from other collectors.

More 2009 O-Pee-Chee needs as I close in on a complete set.

You'll note the cards were scanned slanted. I recently installed a new scanner. It's not anything fancy at all, but it already is more cooperative than the old one, and I think I'll end up with fewer crooked scans, and better-cropped scans, too.

Oops, that's me meandering again.

Jeremy, many thanks for my winnings.

I'll try to come up with a single subject with my next post.

Very sweet sketch card. I'm jealous.
I won one of Jeremy's sweet sketch cards too. He's very talented.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm glad you liked the cards. I would love to see other peoples' sketch cards. I was hoping the O-Pee-Chee pack would get you some singles that you needed.
