A nest of activity

That's a moment-in-time snapshot of my card table and surrounding other activities in my card room. There's a lot going on in there right now. Not only is it the central hub for cards coming in and cards going out, but there are two large boxes of cards coming in that I'm trying to get myself around. Also, TCDB offers have ramped up again. And, those card stacks off to the left will tell you I'm in the middle of another Dodgers dupes card sort. I try to do this once a year, around September or so. But I skipped it last year so there's even more to do. Also, life has somehow turned what was once a week-long activity into a two-month activity. I don't know how it did that, but it dood. More card stacks. More incoming. There is a lot to do, card-wise. And blog-wise. I have topics in mind that involve research. And little time to do it. When I'm in that kind of crunch, sometimes I dismiss incoming cards for blog posts, thinking that I just can't come up wi...

Glad someone is buying this?

I said a few weeks ago that I don't think I want every Dodger card anymore and I stand by that, but this is going to be a gradual process. I still have trouble saying no to inferior products/products that just don't speak to me anymore when it comes to my team. It's a process, I'll get there. Soon I'll be muttering in a corner about "Topps flagship ONLY," and there will be a sign taped to my mailbox with that exact same message to the mailman. But until then, weee , somebody sent me Shiny and Unlicensed!   That somebody was Marc, who is getting back on the blogging horse despite having youngsters running amok. Somehow he is finding time to buy some of this stuff that I almost never see where I live, and don't even think to order online.   Glad he's doing it though ... um, I mean, I can't be accepting cards like this anymore!    This envelope was heavy on distracting shiny -- takes your eye off the blank hats and unis, you know -- with all ki...

I'll go over the moon only once

A year ago, Topps released, seemingly out of the blue, a product called "2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary". That's right, it was 2022 and it was dated 2021.  I was prepared to ignore/spit on this product for obvious reasons -- the 1952 Topps design again , there's no saving Topps, is there? -- but, strangely, I found the cards pretty damn cool.   Now, me going "over the moon" for a current product is relative. I don't sink my teeth into a new set fully unless I really, really like it, and that happens very seldom. I am not buying box after box after box, which is what you'd think was a collector going "over the moon." But I did gush over these cards on the blog and I did buy one of those mega boxes of the product (albeit a gift card purchase) and I do welcome any cards from the set people want to throw at me. So that's "over the moon" for me.   A year later I have maybe 70 cards from this set (out of 700). No real less...
