Night Owl Cards

If you had told me, not even 15 years ago, that I'd still be writing this post in 2024, heck that I would still be blogging in 2024, or even that there would be Opening Days to celebrate in 2024, or a semi-functioning world in 2024, I would have been pleasantly surprised. Opening Day is still a tradition we have and for many teams it starts tomorrow. (The Dodgers and Padres got a jump on things but it wasn't their idea). I'm excited. Tomorrow's Opening Day. This will be the 48th Opening Day that I have experienced. Like most Opening Days, it will be unlike any other.   It's a little easier to pick out the differences this year compared with previous Opening Days. MLB is tinkering again. They sure like to do that.   I'll go through each of the changes with a not-so quick thumbs up or thumbs down. You've read about these plenty elsewhere but I got to weigh in!   1. Pitch clock: Love it. The length of games for the past two decades or more and the defense of the outright dawdling of players on the field has turned me off and I can't believe anyone is saying "but that's the way the game is played/love it or leave it."
