The greatest card package ever: letters M-Z

Here is the third in the three-part series on the GCPE, sent to me by Joe L. I'll keep this brief, because time is short less than 48 hours before the big day. These are cards of Dodgers that I received with last names M to Z. I'm not showing all of the players. Apologies to Roger McDowell, Bob Ojeda , Chan Ho Park, Brad Penny, Eric Young, etc. But attention spans are short. Onward: Greg Maddux (1 card): I always try to show a card with Maddux in a Dodger uniform. He played for the team twice, which means he thought they were worth another try. Of course, he did that with the Cubs, too. Russell Martin (4 cards): I'm going with the 2008 Finest card as my favorite. Don't know why. Not exactly the finest year for Finest. Pedro Martinez (1 card): This is a neat little insert from 2005 Playoff Prestige. I like the later-day Pedro-in-a-Dodger-uniform cards. Ramon Martinez (4 cards): This is from 1998 SP Authentic. I had no idea SP-A had been around for so long. I ...

The greatest card package ever: letters A-L

Even after I divulged all of the "hits" in the previous GCPE post, I hope you'll stay with me for the remaining two posts on the cards that Joe L. sent. I mean, you're not just about the hits, right? Base cards rule, right ? Don't be a card snob. Like I said before, I received so many cards that I have to break the package up into three posts. This is Part 1 of the base cards. Players A through L. Players M through Z will show up tomorrow. Almost all of these cards come from the period in which I did not collect -- the mid 1990s to the early 2000s. So there were a bunch of cards I had never seen before. I'm not featuring all of the players, just most of them. I'm going to list the number of cards that I received of that player -- I mean all the ones that I didn't have previously. Then, I'll show my favorite card of that player that I received. But I don't know why I just mentioned all that. It's not like anyone is keeping score. Or maybe...

A very merry Christmas to me ... and the greatest card package ever

Today was a great day as far as card collecting goes. I finished off my Christmas shopping and grabbed a few random card packs with my leftover scraps of cash. I ended up with a relic card and an auto card. The relic card will be going to a certain blogger, and I have a feeling the auto card will be sent to someone eventually, too. Then, when I arrived home, there were four card packages stuffed into my mailbox. (One I'm not 100 percent sure of the source. I think I know, but if you're from sunny Hermosa Beach, please stand up). It then occurred to me, that it doesn't matter whether I receive any cards on Christmas morning. Sure, it'd be great, but if I don't, I won't bitch, like last year. Because the number of cards I have received from across the country in the last few weeks is astounding. A number of them have come with Christmas greetings (I hope I can show some of those before the Christmas tree is out on the curb). And that means a lot. So, in th...
