Some time ago I wrote a post about years with the final digit in common and the cards that were released each of those years. Which was my favorite?
For example, this year, which ends in a "3" and all the previous "3" years with cards going back to the '50s: 1953, 1963, 1973, 1983, 1993, 2003 and 2013. I think a lot of people would make this group their favorite, after all Topps has used the photo-inset theme with '63, '83, '03 and '23.
I don't remember which number I picked as a favorite, because I can't find the post; it happens when you have over 5,000 posts. But I probably picked the 5's.
The 5's have some of my all-time favorites: 1965, 1975 (of course) and 2015. I also like 2005 and I once liked 1995 a lot (not so much anymore). And, heck, I did a whole set blog on 1985 Topps.
I'm still chasing some of those 5 sets and I'm not limiting it to Topps either.
This key Ozzie Smith is a fine addition in helping legitimize my 1985 Donruss chase. It arrived in a TCDB trade with Ymmat.
Here is a mixture of years from the same trade, some 2005s and a 1995 Dodger need, but also a couple of key additions from some oddball legends sets I'm collecting.
These are not 5s but they do complete the non-Pokemon portion of the 2023 Big League team set for me! All that's left is dumb shiny. They're going to have to hope I reach the point of caring enough to eventually add them to my collection. I'm sure not paying 15 bucks for Big League card.
Back to a happier set and a happier outcome! These 2005s are from a TCDB transaction from Bo of Baseball Cards Come To Life!
I think you read about his encounter with mail-stealing goons. ... Well, he didn't actually encounter them, but a mailbox he used did and envelopes he planned to send to me have disappeared!
I'm still hoping one of the cards he sent eventually shows up, but I doubt that will happen. But Bo made good on the deal with these '05s, pretty admirable that he just found nine more cards that I needed just like that!
My final group of 5 sent through TCDB is another selection from GoldenEagles555. He sent these along simply because he likes reading my blog! Still so awesome that people do this.
That's the rest of them. A whole bunch of old-school American League West guys with one Phillies interloper.

3. 1's (1951, 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001, 2011, 2021)
4. 2's (1952, 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992, 2002, 2012, 2022)
5. 7's (1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007, 2017)
6. 4's (1954, 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004, 2014)
7. 6's (1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016)
8. 8's (1958, 1968, 1978, 1988, 1998, 2008, 2018)
9. 9's (1959, 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999, 2009, 2019)
10. 0's (1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020)
Everything between No. 5 and No. 9 I could flop around on a given day, but the others are pretty set, depending on future editions of course.
I guess with the 5's at the top, that's something to look forward to with 2025.
