Cardboard appreciation: 1995 Upper Deck Minors Wonderful Terrific Monds

(This month is National Blood Pressure Month. You don't know how appropriate that is. Time for Cardboard Appreciation. This is the 66th in a series):

I will keep this short and sweet, because the card certainly doesn't.

I ask you has there ever been a player card that featured a larger collection of letters than this one?

To review:

We have a BRAVES TOP PROSPECT, named WONDERFUL TERRIFIC MONDS, making a fake leaping catch in front of a wall display for the FRYE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER.

That's a lot of the alphabet on one 2 1/2-by-3 1/2 card!

(For people who don't know: Yes, that's his real name, and no, he didn't make the major leagues).

(Also, the Frye Regional Medical Center is in Hickory, N.C.)

(That's it. I have no more information for you).

Comments

And for those who don't know, his full name is actually Wonderful Terrific Monds III.

But you can call him Wonder for short.

It has to be asked. Was Monds not Wonderful enough to get to the big show? He truly missed a Terrific experience...
That might have been the shortest Night Owl post ever!!! It inspired me to dig out my copy of that card. I remember my son taking it to show and tell back then because he couldn't believe that was his real name. His teacher didn't buy it either... Fools they are. Great memory triggering post Owlie!

I have this card and the Future Stock version (with a little "Future Stock" label in the upper right corner"). So add 11 more characters to that version of the card...so many letters!

I also have an autographed card of the dude...he only signs Wonderful Monds though...bummer lol. His middle name is just so terrific...why would he leave that out?

I have a buddy who always picks his fantasy team by coolest name. He's never competitive in the league but he has a great stable of names on his roster. I think Coco Crisp is usually his first pick and Felix Pie is usually somewhere in the top 5. The guy on this card would've blown his mind.
