I like milestones almost as much as giveaways

I enjoy charting milestones. It's recording history, gives me a good idea of where I've been and where I'm going and, as always, milestones provide blog material.

I am a little baffled when people miss milestones like their blog anniversary and such -- that's easy blog content!

Milestones are also great opportunities for giveaways, and I've done my share of milestone giveaways. But a little while ago I was able to take advantage of another milestone and giveaway.

Matt of Diamond Jesters announced me as his 200th Time Travel Trade. For that particular milestone honor, I was able to pick a card from the Time Travel card inventory for free! Matt even gave me a sneak-peek at incoming Time Travel cards in case I wanted to choose one of those.

I did. It was this 1965 Topps Diego Segui card. What a fine specimen.

I've been adding to my collection of '60s cards all year. It's very casual, and outside of the 1967 Topps set, I'm not trying to complete anything from that decade. But it sure is fun watching my binder of '60s cards grow and grow. Not something I ever expected to happen.

The other Time Travel cards I acquired are more typical of my collection and also obtained the more typical way -- I need to send Matt an older card in exchange.

Sorry about the crooked pix. I can't retake them, it's snowing outside now and dark.

The Harold Baines comes from another one of those 1990 Fleer insert sets that I like. The Chet Lemon is another '80s glossy (the glossy has gone away tho) that needs to be in my collection.

The football card is from 1976 Topps and one of those childhood sets that always makes me want to pick up the cards even if I don't know who the player is. And the Derrel Thomas is a Trapped In Time card that I had to save from retirement before it was pulled from consideration.

I like adding extra '75s when I can, but they need to be pretty tidy as all my extra '75s are in similar condition. A '75 Topps lover can't be doing anything mean to those cards!

Congratulations to Matt for more than 200 Time Travel Trades. It's a great way to get cards into people's hands and I can see why it's been so successful and lasted so long, even though I think more people should be participating (but then I wouldn't be able to grab as many cards so never mind what I just said).

I said the same thing when I started collecting 1960s cards. Just want a few, not going to try to complete the sets, etc. It was the path to addiction . . .

Love the time travel trades. Wish I'd thought of that idea.

And I am so bad at doing milestone posts even though people clearly like to read them.

I'm one of those bloggers who tend to miss milestone and anniversary posts. I've done a fair share, but missed way more.

P.S. I like the 1990 Fleer All-Star Team inserts too.

I'm really surprised that more people don't get in on those TT trades, too. The only reason I don't do them more often is because there just isn't much for me, but that's okay, I've got enough new cards showing up as is.

I really need to do some giveaways. I have tons of stuff I don't need. Or at least do some "you give me a couple and I'll send you a whole box" type of trades.

Whenever you get the inclination to go after the '76s, I have a whole two-row box of 96% of the non-superstars.
