Once, twice, thr ... ah, never mind, I hate that song

Lots of things to address lately, but as usual, I am ill-prepared. So let me address, instead, the jumble of cards on the desk that I have received over the last month.

It's such a jumble that I am beginning to lose track of who sent what. And that means if you've been an extremely busy bee at sending out packages -- like Jeff of 2 by 3 Heroes -- then it's a guarantee that I'm going to mess up something that you shipped out.

Nothing tragic, mind you. I just can't figure out whether Jeff has sent me two packages or three packages in the last three weeks. First-world problems, I know. I was going through the disheveled stack -- with cards angled in different directions in a vain attempt to alert future me that "here begins a completely new package that he sent" -- trying to determine if he once, twice, three times sent me a package.

I've finally settled on three times -- which is probably wrong, but it gives me the opportunity to force that terrible Commodores song into your head, so the goal has been accomplished.

Let's see what he sent those three times, which is probably only two times. Who knows how many times it was! Jeff probably doesn't even know, he's too busy sending stuff!

ONCE

Here is the mythical first package. I know for a fact some of these cards arrived first, but whether some other cards joined these cards ... justifiably nobody cares.

2014 Allen and Ginter needs. As often as I've shown this set on the blog, you'd think I would have completed it by now. But -- ho, ho! -- of course not! It's a modern set with very modern short-print sensibilities in a modern economy where modern middle-classers have no money for modern card hi-jinks. Did I use "modern" enough in that sentence? MODERN!

Dodger Allen and Ginters from the last couple of years. This trio or duo of packages was heavy on Hanley Ramirez, which is both a good and a bad thing.

TWICE

OK, it's starting to become a little clearer now. I believe there were three packages. Two PWEs and then a --- waaaaah? -- yellow envelope from 2-by-3 Heroes, the PWE king.

These are the yellow envelope cards. I know they were in the yellow envelope because it was a healthy stack and only feeble stacks are allowed in PWEs.

A good stack of 2015 Topps Series 2 needs. I know you're sick of seeing 2015 Topps. I'm going to keep showing it until I'm done completing it.

More 2014 Allen and Ginter. Kimbrel and Perez are waiting for me to say something. I've got nothing.

Three 2015 A&G Dodgers. Go Away, Gone Away and Here To Stay.

And the star of package No. 2 -- more 2015 Stadium Club.

It's about time I landed this Gooden card. So many SC pack purchases and no Doc.

I'm beginning to get giddy about seeing this entire set in a binder. P.S.: Lou Brock is not a Black-and-White Guy to me. He needs to be in full color.

Great stuff. Except for the deluded fans in the bottom right corner. Maybe I'll introduce them to the Giants from the '70s and most of the '80s.

There were many other Stadium Club cards in the package, but I'll leave off with this one. This card is interesting to me only in that the back of the card is not glossy like all the other cards. It has no finish. At first I thought this was some sort of parallel, but I can't find any reference to it at all. Just a goof, I guess.

THREE TIMES

This was the most recent envelope, a power-packed PWE with another Hanley card.

I didn't even bother to put the Starting Points Dodgers on my want list (I don't like the look of them), but Jeff sniffed one out.

Obligatory night card.

This happens to be my first hockey relic card. It's former Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, one of the many goalies who couldn't stay in Buffalo.

Miller is wearing the Tadpole Buffalo logo from the late 2000s, which was not a good look at all.

Woooooooooo! Jeff read my end-of-the-year post. This is the second of the three owl Birds of Prey minis that I own.

Only this one remains:

When I get it, I will have once, twice, three times the owl Birds of Prey minis!

Yes, I know, I'm sorry.

I'm sorry again.

I pulled that Tehran from a pack and thought the same thing about the card. I determined it was some screw up of the card being delivered to the glossing machine. I blame the jamokes hijacking that government building in Oregon.

And 3 was correct. For determining the correct number, I'll send you some more cards in the future.

I had that exact same thought when I saw the SC Brock card.

Oh, and I keep seeing Stadium Club cards that I really love. I may be forced to actually chase a contemporary set. Will wonders never cease?

With every stadium club I see, my love for the set increases.

Might be time to buy a complete set on UghBay.

I really thought that this post would end with a lady. Okay, I was *hoping* it would. Then, you look at Lionel Richie in that video and think, "Yeah, that could be a woman. An ugly one, but..."

You bring up a great point on the B&W/Lou Brock issue. I've actually never even thought of that before... since I've lived my entire life with color television and color photos. What's your color cutoff? Is there a specific player in your mind that is the last B&W guy? Is it a specific decade or year? Just curious.

Side note... had no clue Lionel Richie was in the Commodores.

Almost anyone who played in the '70s -- unless their career began in the '50s -- should be in color. Players like Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Harmon Killebrew are OK in black-and-white. But players like Brock, Tom Seaver, Steve Carlton should be in color.

I am completely thoughtless. I had the Great Horned Owl mini. WHY did I not send this to you??? What is wrong with me?? I'm pretty sure it was donated to some local kids who need cards. I hope to redeem myself by finding this in my oddball stack. Pray for me. In the meantime, forgive me.
