You fellow '70s kids know already that M is for Martha, but fortunately there are collectors in our corner of the ridiculous internet that know that M is also for More Cards.
Johnny has been sending sequels to his recent card distributions and I received my second share about a week ago. He's still ridding himself of players who start with M that no longer live up to his standards. My last package was filled with Max Muncys.
This package was filled with ... no, not Willie Mays ...
Lots of needed parallel action there. Now that May is with his third team in three years, it's safe to say he's not going to be the future star promised by his prospect cards. I could've told Johnny that quite awhile ago (and gotten my cards earlier!). May just couldn't put it all together -- or stay away from killer salads.
Mmmmmmmmm. Those hit the spot. Mighty nice of John to send them.
There was also one Max Muncy straggler from the last package. This is the holiday "base" parallel for Series 2, which was different from the Series 1 holiday base parallel. Consistency is what I'm after here in my year-to-year set collecting, which I guess is no longer a thing according to Topps. I can't wait for the flagship set in which every single base card has a different design.
Another M guy in Raul Mondesi. I think these lesser stamped buybacks, like the Bowman ones, are the next cards to leave the Dodgers binders for a box.
More Dodger needs though no Ms and not the biggest names. I do appreciate the Andy Pages and the Heritage red Kopech, still not over collecting those parallels.
Here is a welcome need from last year. Long way to go on these 1990 All-Stars, especially since there are two different flavors.
Here's a card that makes me super-happy. This was the last team-set need for the 2022 Chrome Update set. Nothing like finally landing a card of a player who is already three years removed from the team shown on the card.
John sent a couple of other needs -- a couple current Bills and yet even more 2025 Bowman Dodgers prospects -- but for the big closer I'll focus on something I have always loved. It's not an M word, but all you need to do is turn that M upside down.
Wacky Packages! Originals, too. In fact the top three are from Series 1, and I have so few of those.
These will always make me smile. I'm a '70s kid after all. Not long ago, TCDB featured a Wacky Packages sticker as its "Card of the Day". One of the comments said something to the effect that as far as parody nonsports cards, he thought he preferred Wacky Packages to Garbage Pail Kids. Agreed, agreed, agreed.
That comment received a whole bunch of likes. I even liked it and I never do anything with that particular TCDB feature.
Well, my, my, I think it's really time to update my Dodgers binders now. I think I can safely say there won't be a third Johnny send arriving (or can I?).
