Good news, bad news

A 2026 Topps fat pack tale.

I visited the Target card aisle again Monday as I was there to do some birthday shopping, too.

GOOD NEWS

The shelves were fully restocked (again) and this time filled with 2025 Stadium Club, too, along with 2026 Topps and 2025 Update. (Not my photo, I forgot to take one).

BAD NEWS

The hanger boxes had disappeared. So I grabbed a couple fat packs against my better judgement (they are are a dupes machine).

GOOD NEWS

 I found the Ohtani card.

BAD NEWS

A bunch of cards in the first pack were miscut.

GOOD NEWS

None of the Dodgers were miscut and I needed all of them!

GOOD NEWS

The Stars of MLB card was a Paul Skenes.

BAD NEWS

The 1991 insert was:

a) A Rockie
b) A player I don't know
c) Featuring a city connect uniform I don't like

GOOD NEWS

Leaps at the wall! (Who needs Stadium Club?)

GOOD NEWS

This card gave me a post idea (No hints. You'll have to be surprised).

BAD NEWS

I pulled the same Titans of the Game out of both packs.

GOOD NEWS

I like the look of the Greatest Hits inserts.

GOOD NEWS

I realized while shuffling through the cards that the top abbreviation that everyone has been complaining about is actually useful for quickly determining the team (say for searching for cards for a trade).

BAD NEWS

SO MANY DUPES!

I really haven't purchased much 2026 -- one blaster, one hanger box and 3 fat packs -- yet the dupes come close to matching the cards I needed.

GOOD NEWS

The team cards make for good night cards, but I haven't checked to see if they make the binder.

BAD NEWS

Two packs came to 15 bucks. That's not blaster bad but it's still 19 cents a card and a lot of those cards were either damaged or I didn't need!

GOOD NEWS

This is the last 2026 Topps Series 1 post I will make.

I like the top abbreviation and the 2026 design overall compared to other recent designs. Today is the first time I realized the Athletics do not use a city designation.
This was an enjoyable post to read. Not because you got 17,389 dupes. Not because some cards were miscut. Not being you got a freakin' Rockies player... but that there was in there a lot of actual Good News! Good news is good. I'm glad you got the Ohtani. I had to trade for mine and I ended up getting two and not need to trade one of them. So you're done with 2026. What about 2025?
Happy to take those dupe trophy cups off your hands :)

At least more good news than bad. Maybe those miscut cards were done on purpose to give the pack a throw back feel.

Cant wait for that post idea.
