Downsizing plays no favorites

Well, actually it does. There are a lot of cards I will never downsize.

But what I am referring to is card brands. More on that in a minute.

My series of downsizing posts have paid off for my overall goal of clearing space on my card shelves, but it's a very slow process.

First of all, any movement on this project is restricted to the weekend. I don't have the time or energy for this during the week. Secondly, I probably should be giving away cards in much larger chunks for quicker progress. But I can't afford that. So piece meal it is.

The process, like I've said, is removing cards from binders and putting them into boxes. I clear space in boxes through these giveaways. Some examples of progress since the first downsize back in November:

Complete Allen & Ginter sets post-2011 are now in boxes. The double-row long box here houses 2012, 2013 and 2014 complete sets. There is another box elsewhere that contains all of my A&G cards from 2015 to present, nothing is complete there but it's nice to have them all in one place now.

Even though I've cleared space in boxes, it's not nearly enough space for all of the former binder cards that need to go into boxes. This is something that I didn't plan for.

It means I not only need more boxes but also space in which to put those boxes -- wonderful, another space issue! (I think I can get 3 boxes into the new space above).

Meanwhile, though I've rid several binders of cards -- they're now standing by waiting to be filled with a new project -- there's not enough room cleared on the shelves yet for all the extra binders in their future. For example, I'm now filling one binder with my nearly finished 1985 Donruss set.

But I still have a couple of binders marked for unloading into boxes, so I'll see where I am after that. I have the feeling though that the top shelf of the one binder -- the image at the top of this post -- is going to have to be utilized for binder space, which is not making me happy.

So the best way to get what I want is to just keep downsizing. Here is another one of those posts.

For this edition I'm focusing on Topps for the first time. All other cards I've given away, for the most part, have been other card brands. But no favorites this time!

I am going directly to my least favorite Topps year since I returned to collecting back in 2006.

That is a stack of 2016 Topps in its various forms. I tried to get rid of most of this set when I had a large giveaway a few years ago but somehow some of it grew back.

The stack includes Update, Holiday, Chrome, Opening Day and Bunt. All stinkers. The only 2016 sets I'm hanging onto is Heritage (the '67 design) and some Stadium Club. Just about everything else has GOT TO GO.

It's a total of around 230 cards, so not as much as other giveaways but time is not on my side in March. I might throw in a couple surprises unrelated to 2016 just to fill out the box.

Like the other downsizings, I am giving away these cards all in one shot. The first person who says they want the cards in the comments AND sends me their address via email (to nightlite77@yahoo.com) gets all of these cards to do with what they wish.

If no one claims them in a week -- by March 28 -- then I get to do with them what I wish. And that could be ugly. 2016 Topps has been on The List for a long time.

Please could I have this, I’ll email
I collected the whole 2016 set when I was getting back into baseball cards; but it doesn't really move me too much. Now I might need to do a think on it.... Good luck with your giveaway!
