The most Hall of Famers, update 5

I promised the last time I did this last March that I'd try to do more than one of these a year. Another broken promise. This is the first one you're seeing since last March (I suppose I could squeeze in another one before 12 months are up, but I doubt I will).

The Hall of Fame has added a couple more players, so this is the perfect time to add a couple more sets to my study of which Topps set features the most Hall of Famers, as well as update any sets that included new Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza.

Tonight, I'm adding the sets from 1960 and 1990, because I like round numbers.

After the latest update, the 1969 set remains the leader in the clubhouse.

Among the sets that were already counted, the 1996 set received the most tweaks. I added Griffey and Piazza, but subtracted the Mickey Mantle card because I'll open up a can of worms by including former players in sets. I've decided that the player or manager or coach must be active in their profession, or at least recently retired, when the set is issued.

The 1960 set is the beneficiary of the floating heads coaches cards as Luke Appling, Bill Dickey and Bob Lemon all appear on those.

The 1990 set, meanwhile, suffers from Hall voters declining to select steroid-era players, as the set is filled with steroid guys like Clemens, Bonds, Palmeiro and others. Still, even if they were included, I don't think 1990 would match 1969.

As always, if you catch somebody missing, let me know.

Hopefully, I'll get to another one of these before 2017.

Nolan Ryan is in 1990. Also, you could consider Mike Schmidt as recently retired, though he's only in Turn Back the Clock. He does have a regular donruss card.

Geez, how'd I miss Ryan, he's all over the front part of the set. As for Schmidt, I probably won't count him. I was thinking more like Paul Konerko in the 2015 set.
The 1996 set does not have manager card to benefit from a zlight bump in numbers. However, there ciuld have been these guys:
Sparky Anderson (Tigers); Tony LaRussa (A's); Bobby Cox (Braves); Tom Lasorda (Dodger); and Joe Torre (Cards).

This would have added 5 more for a total of 27.
I like this "series", I hope there is another one this year.

Please... please... please do at least one more before 2017.
