Night Owl Cards

Last month, when half the card blogging world was making a pilgrimage to the National sports card show in Baltimore, I not-so-silently stewed in my inability to attend. I even kind of yelled about it a little . But it was all in good fun. Even if I didn't have to work while the National was going on, I probably wouldn't have made it anyway because August is a super-broke month for me. They really need to move the National to a different month. So, making the National was pure fantasy for me. Fortunately, getting cards from the National is not. I recently received several selections from Baltimore-based bloggers (say that sentence 10 times fast). Some of those cards were from the National. At least one card was picked up specifically for me. That, my friends, is the action of a gentleman and a scholar. That is the card from Kevin of Orioles Card "O" the Day . Good evening. I trust your weekend went well. From what I understand, it went very well. Because if you weren't attending the National , making videos of the National , buying cards at the National , buying more cards at the National , buying MORE cards at the National , meeting people at the National , making a day trip to the National , buying MORE cards at the National , buying even MORE cards at the National ,  meeting even MORE people at the National , then you were attending a card show , or getting cultured , or blogging at the ballpark . You know what I was doing? WORKING!!!! Every damn day! And I'm pissed. I'm so pissed that I'm posting a trade and I don't even care who likes it and who doesn't! Arrgggghh! So there!! I received a very prompt and plump package in the mail yesterday afternoon. It was from Mojo & Beardy's Fantastic Card Blog . Actually, I believe it was specifically from Beardy if you want to get all uptight about it. But that isn't the point. The point is they were GIVING AWAY CARDS. Shiny, colorful cards. They were giving away 2004 Finest. I love '04 Finest. It might be my favorite Finest ever. Yeah, I know. I have a lot of favorites. That's a common theme in a lot of areas in my life. And it can be a problem. But  THIS isn't a problem: Isn't that FANTASTIC???!!!!! That is so awesome. They really did Finest right that year. And, I received half of the freakin' set from M&B's card emporium!! HALF. OK, so the set's only 100 cards, but still half a set is half a set. It's a good deed. Flat out. A good deed.
