Still turned out OK

I've been part of a lot of Nachos Grande group breaks over the years. It's an easy way to get cards of my team without suffering through blasters that insist on adding White Sox and Marlins, as well as landing some cards from those years when I was in a dark place (i.e. not collecting). I don't have the funds all the time so sometimes I leave and then come back and I came back recently for another one of his Breakers Club breaks through Discord. I always have fun with the breaks. Chris is great, he finds great sets to open and everything is done on the collectors' terms, they get the cards when they want them, Chris isn't making any money off of the whole thing, he's just trying to pay for the boxes. So it was a surprise when I ordered up my cards a week or so ago and discovered maybe a day later that not all the cards were there. I tore the house apart looking for them, I even went through the garbage -- the messy, icky garbage -- in search of them, I've...

While I wait

Here is the new product-release calendar for upcoming sets, posted on the main page of Trading Card Database: Please note the first item on that list.   2021 Topps Big League baseball.   To quote Andre Dawson, "what year is it?" I am not insinuating anything about TCDB's list. The site doesn't come up with the release dates (note there are several other 2021 sets in that list). Any collector that's a fan of Big League or up on new card sets knows that 2021 Big League's release has been postponed repeatedly. Why Topps even announces a new date anymore, I don't know. It's gotten pretty comical ever since the calendar turned from 2021 to 2022. Supply issues and backlogs is the reason for the massive delay. I think someone commented when I mentioned the delay earlier that figurines were part of 2021 Big League and the manufacturing/distribution of those was the reason for the delay. I don't care about figurines (see my shrug with today's Fanatics...

Worth the cost

I never think that I own the largest Dodger card collection, or the 10th largest, or the 100th largest, or even the 1,000th largest.   I do know though that it is extensive and diverse. This is why I rarely enter team group breaks. With my inventory, I'd likely be adding only to my surplus. And that's just throwing money away. So when I threw $100 at Nachos Grande's Breakers Club a couple of months ago, I needed to sit myself down for a talk and explain it: "Self, yes, it's a lot of money, but he's opening a bunch of late '90s stuff and you always have holes where '90s cards go. When have you ever bought Pacific? Also, he's opening 2021 product and you know you don't want to go to the card aisle and get mixed up in a knife fight on the off-chance you pull one Dodger card. Finally, it's Nachos Grande! You know he's going to pull some fancy Dodger card, because he always does!" OK, so I convinced myself to sign up ... and then I wa...
