Fishing for a Kershaw auto

I received notice a day or so ago that someone will be sending me a 2009 Clayton Kershaw autographed card. That is seriously nice of Chris. And I'll be sure to reserve the next A&G auto I get for him. But that doesn't mean I'm done with Kershaw autos. I may not need the A&G Kershaw signature anymore, but I know there are a few other Clayton autos out there, since bloggers keep pulling them everywhere. Fortunately, I just won a contest at The Mojo Hand last week. And my winnings are in my possession. So, now I can use a couple of the cards as bait for Kershaws, or something else that agrees with my collection. Because my collection is very particular. Finicky, even. The first card I'm offering up for trade is a deadly serious one. In exchange for it, I would really like a Kershaw autographed card, preferably from this year. But we can work something out. This might be the thickest card I have ever owned. You could use it for a doorstop, if you were, you ...

A Ginter winner after all

This isn't a post about the 1962 album by Lightnin' Hopkins, titled "Mojo Hand." It's a post about Jay's blog, "The Mojo Hand," where I won myself more than two blasters worth of 2009 Allen & Ginter in the The Big Allen & Ginter Giveaway! I will tell you with no tinge of embarrassment that I do not have the mental capacity or patience for guessing games. I steer clear of contests that involve a jar full of jelly beans. But somehow, for probably the first time in my life, I guessed the correct number. This time it was I had to figure out the number of A&G cards in the photo at Mojo headquarters. There were exactly 116 cards. Yup, knew it all the time. And since I have no chance of winning the " Gint -a-Cuffs" contest, this is pretty dang awesome on its own. Plus, you know what that means? It means that several people may get a few extra cards in their mid-summer Christmas stocking. I owe A&G cards to Brian, Beardy ...

Something to tide you ... uh ... me over

A box of 2009 Allen & Ginter is in my possession. And I'll warn you right away: I make no apologies for drooling over these cards. If these aren't your thing, if you have issues with mascot autographs and DNA relics of Richard Nixon, then you're staring at the wrong blog. Because I'll defend all of the cards in this set as if they're members of my family. However, I have no time to show any of them. Two jam-packed days of fun-filled work are waiting for me. Maybe, if I pull something wonderful, I'll throw up a quick one-card post. But the full-fledged Gint -a-Cuffs compilation posts are going to have to wait until next week. So, I thought I'd show three cards I received from The Mojo Hand instead. Mojo , er, Jay is an expert in all things shiny, paralleled and scribbled on. And he is quite generous indeed. So, here they are: A 2009 Goudey relic of Matt Kemp, who was beat out of a spot in the All-Star Game by the fan voting when Shane Victorino was ...
