Don't need any new projects

2025 Topps is scheduled for released this week. Apparently some people are somehow already opening it on video. I have stopped watching card videos because I can't take the beating to my IQ. I'm also no longer on Twitter (same reason), which was absolutely saturated with new cards during flagship release time.   I don't know what my local card aisles will look like when I venture out (it won't be on release date, which is a Wednesday and also the day of the week my job practically kills me). The local spots have been pretty grim lately -- my theory is the popularity of the monthly card show has something to do with that. But last year, my Target was decked out with 2024 Topps in February. I've heard Fanatics has upped the card count for this year (don't panic, it's still not a junk wax levels), so I hope that means I can find some this month.   But mostly it doesn't matter for my collection. I have enough card projects. I'm constantly forgetting ab...

Let the glad tidings roll on!

Let's just stay with the out-of-season Christmas posts here. Why not? Nobody's celebrating late January. As many of you know, Rod of Padrographs is a great guy who opens up a bunch of current product around the holidays and then distributes a lot of it to his favorite bloggers. I'm one of those! Most of the cards he sent this time were Dodgers or Orioles. The Baltimores are for my nephew, but he's in college now, when card interest is way low, so they'll stay with me or maybe be sent to another Orioles collector. He also sent three unopened packs: All of these have since been opened. I'll show off the contents at the end of the post. But I need to get on with the Dodgers because, brother, did Rod boost my 2024 content in that area.   Here is where most of the Holiday team set came from -- before I opened that Holiday dome in the previous post. One of the cards is a silver glitter parallel for Yamamoto. Rod took care of just about all of my Stadium Club team n...

Thank you, I don't like it

A couple things before I start the big show: 1. I like to be a good commenter on the blogs and leave a comment when something sparks my interest. Lately I have been unable to comment on some blogs via my laptop. This is only from my laptop, not any other computer, like the one at work, so I know it's some sort of settings issue on my laptop. But it only comes into play on three blogs that I know of. Those are: Johnny's Trading Spot , Nine Pockets and Uncle Charlie's Shoebox . I know this is something I have to fix (like I have the time) but I'm mentioning the specific blogs just in case they've wondered where I was in the commenting section.   2. RIP, Mr. Baseball. Bob Uecker, who lived to age 90, is one of those baseball guys who lasted through multiple generations. First he was a player, then a broadcaster, then a pitchman and guest host, then an actor, then a movie star. Whether you knew him first as a ballplayer or his famed Lite Beer commercials or from Majo...

Still turned out OK

I've been part of a lot of Nachos Grande group breaks over the years. It's an easy way to get cards of my team without suffering through blasters that insist on adding White Sox and Marlins, as well as landing some cards from those years when I was in a dark place (i.e. not collecting). I don't have the funds all the time so sometimes I leave and then come back and I came back recently for another one of his Breakers Club breaks through Discord. I always have fun with the breaks. Chris is great, he finds great sets to open and everything is done on the collectors' terms, they get the cards when they want them, Chris isn't making any money off of the whole thing, he's just trying to pay for the boxes. So it was a surprise when I ordered up my cards a week or so ago and discovered maybe a day later that not all the cards were there. I tore the house apart looking for them, I even went through the garbage -- the messy, icky garbage -- in search of them, I've...

So this is where we are

I don't think I need to explain where I am at with Allen & Ginter for regular readers. But I've got some new followers on BlueSky today (my Twitter account is not long for this world) so a brief recap: Started a blog in 2008 and one of my early posts was about my complete-and-total adoration of Allen & Ginter, particularly that year's edition. The years go on and I plunge into Gint-a-Cuffs, an annual blog-wide salute to the A&G product, and make it my mission to complete the set each year. I do so until 2015 when I don't like the set look and am growing skeptical of Topps' checklist selections. I stop trying to complete the set as the checklist turns to reality stars and other blatant pandering, but still try to buy a blaster or two for tradition's sake. You're caught up. And this is where we are now: Four packs. You see them right up there. That's probably all I'm getting, outside of gathering the Dodgers. This an astounding decision ...
