I will never have every single one

I know my collection may be somewhat intimidating to fellow collectors looking to trade with me. I've been doing this online thing for a decade and collecting in general for years before that, and I've made hundreds of trades. But I really don't have every card. I may be misremembering but I don't recall a single card package that contained at least a dozen cards that didn't include at least one card that I needed. There are always holes in my collection. If I ever get my want list fully complete you will see there are lots and lots of holes. Craters. It's practically a Grand Canyon of wants and needs. But just to prove it to you, let's take a selection of Dodgers sent to me by Tom from The Angels In Order . He was very skeptical about the cards he sent: Well, no, Tom, I didn't. Sure, I already owned much of what was sent. But the joy in packages like this is unearthing the gems that I still needed -- most of which I had no idea were ab...

4-for-4

I received exactly four cards from The Lost Collector recently. All four cards were of Dodgers. All four cards were of infielders. All four cards were cards that I needed. Do you know how difficult that is to do? Send me just four cards, of Dodgers, and have each one fill a hole? That's operating on a whole other level. I'll start with 2015 Jimmy Rollins here. Those of you who know my collecting ways might be questioning my above statements already after thinking I must have this card already. And after becoming slightly concerned that you know and care that much about my collection, I would say: "Ha! It's a trick! It's not a 2015 Topps Jimmy Rollins card at all!" It's a 2015 Topps TEAM SET Jimmy Rollins card! This is an important difference in the crazy, padded room world of baseball card collecting in which we team collectors reside. Second card. Another former Philadelphian. This card also resembles a flagship card. Howeve...

Silly collector, cards are for kids

I received this card from The Lost Collector a week or two ago. He said Sports Illustrated For Kids arrived unexpectedly when he ordered Sports Illustrated. And, of course, we all know Sports Illustrated For Kids means ... CARDS!!! This is actually one of my three big beefs with Sports Illustrated. I shall cover them in order: 1. I have ordered a subscription to Sports Illustrated four or five times in my life. Not once did I get one of the cool free promotional items that SI was always offering on those ubiquitous TV commercials. I didn't get the free football phone or the sneaker phone or the binoculars or any of the video cassette retrospectives. I think once I received a sweatshirt, with "SPORTS ILLUSTRATED" branded on it, so I could look especially doofy. It seems that when I was ready to order Sports Illustrated, that's the exact moment all the free promotions ended. 2. Sports Illustrated just scrapped their photography staff. Yes, you heard that rig...
