Cards from normal traders

Did you read about that study from a few weeks back? Something about Facebook users getting a skewed view of how much fun people are having "elsewhere" and becoming depressed about their own mundane, boring lives? It's true that sometimes interaction through the intertubes can give you an altered perception of reality. Take my favorite topic lately, the Diamond Giveaway site. If you did all of your trading through that site, you would think that trading is a cynical exercise, one whose only goal is getting a lot of something for a lot of nothing. I'd say about 97 percent of the trade offers I get on the site are like that. Either that or a lot of people have an awfully inflated idea of what an '87 Mike Schmidt is worth. Meanwhile, I rarely can get any card that I want on the site unless I offer something of obvious greater value for it. That is how I received the Andre Ethier Diamond Diecut card yesterday. I gave up the Tommy Hanson diecut and a couple othe...

You don't understand, I just mowed the lawn

That's a big deal where I live. I know a lot of you have probably mowed your lawns 27 times already this year and your front yard is probably burned out or under water. But around here, between the snow and the cold and the wet and the wind, today was the first time I was able to figure out if my mower was still operational. It is. And I'm exhausted. Don't judge me. I'm not fat or even sluggish. It's just been seven months of cave-dwelling. After two hours in the "what is THAT ? Is that SUN? ," and pushing the grass-eater, my arms are still vibrating. I can barely type, let alone form a clever post. So let's see some cards I've received recently. Sit down in the freshly mowed grass (watch it, it's a little wet still) and take a look at what I've got here. This is an autographed card of the Padres' Chase Headley that I won from Zach of Autographed Cards . It came in a contest. Zach asked us to guess the next Padres player he wo...

Awesome night cards, pt. 109

Yes, the Awesome Night Card series has been hijacked by the Stadium Lights insert series. That series is the reason why I skipped the Awesome Night Card post last week. It's the reason why I'm showing two awesome night cards again this time. I just can't think of any other night cards until I get this set out of the way. These two cards came from Adam, who runs a fledgling blog called Big Sexy Cards . I believe the blog title is a tribute to the Bulls' Kurt Thomas. Don't ask me to explain more. I don't follow basketball. The arrival of Tulowitzki and Utley means I need just two more cards to finish off the set. The Robinson Cano card is on its way to me. After that, all I will need is the Adrian Gonzalez card. You know what that means. If you ever want to see any other night cards on this blog again, photoshopped Gonzalez needs to arrive in my clutches. Give up A-Gone, and none of my night cards get hurt. And then we can all turn out the lights and ...
