Night Owl Cards

My want list site on the blog crashed more than two years ago and I've been attempting to reconstruct it ever since. I haven't spent the full two-plus years on it. I go months and months and months without even touching it. But lately I've been making a little more of an effort. The site was redesigned to be listed by year, instead of by card manufacturer. Within each of the years, I then list Topps first and the others alphabetically afterward. I've pretty much got the years 2009-19 updated completely and I have most of the Topps sets done for all years. I'm currently finishing up 2008 for other brands and I'll continue to go back in time from there. But meanwhile I skip around and add stuff from the 1960s -- I just added the Dodgers needs for Post and Jello -- or some stray set from the '90s that suddenly intrigued me. I've been out of touch with baseball the last three days. Ever since the Dodgers' elimination, I've lost all interest in the baseball postseason. A good chunk of my feeling is related to the final four teams left. I don't like any of them. Another portion is the way in which the Dodgers were eliminated: not a single soul can explain to me why Clayton Kershaw was in that game. The remaining part is that this is about seven painful exits in a row for the Dodgers and I'm just tired of it. One person has already tried to get me out of the dumps by telling me to "hug it out," saying, "it's still baseball!" But I'm not one of those baseball fans who are baseball fans first and you can barely tell whether they have a favorite team. I have an allegiance and my heart was ripped out by a stupid strategic move and I can't get excited over talented plays performed by four teams who have repeatedly eliminated my Dodgers. I have a love-hate relationship with the use of yellow on baseball cards. I realize that it is necessary. There's nothing brighter than yellow, so when you want to alert a card collector -- HEY! BUY THIS CARD! -- yellow helps. Oh, Yeah, it sure does help. But there are other times, some very obvious glaring times -- you know how much glare yellow creates -- when it's too much. There were other colors that could have been selected, other choices that would be a little less offensive, or at least something that could be turned down a notch. (FYI: I wrote about yellow on cards a couple years ago , mentioning some of these same ideas and even doing a countdown. You run out of ideas after 10 plus years). I find yellow not all that attractive given the choices. So when the 1959 Topps set selected yellow for many of the Dodgers cards ... ... yeah, it bothered me.
