Awesomest night card, round 1, part 3

The Warren Moon 1990 Score card annihilated the competition during the recently completed voting in the Awesomest Night Card extravaganza.

It's not a traditional night card. In fact, I feel myself fighting the urge to disqualify it. Sure, it's clever. But not once have I ever seen a quarterback throw a ball while being perilously close to bonking his helmet on the moon.

But, whatever. It's a card of a former Houston Oiler. So it's advancing. Here is the tally:

Warren Moon, 1990 Score: 29 votes
John Tudor, 1989 Topps: 11 votes
Ruben Sierra, 1992 Upper Deck: 5 votes
Chase Utley, 2008 Topps U&H: 3 votes
Kevin Gross, 1993 Donruss: 2 votes
Gary Carter, 1989 Upper Deck: 2 votes

If I need a card to fill out the second round of voting, the Tudor card is getting a chance to rejoin the contest.

OK, onto part 3 of round 1. This one will be a little tough, because there isn't a night card that stands out. Here are the candidates:

Randy Johnson, 2005 Topps: The Big Unit threw a no-hitter against the Braves at night. I don't have a problem with that.

Geoff Blum: 2005 Topps U&H: Blum was part of a post reassuring Yankee haters that there were a lot of non-Yankees that had won World Series rings while current Yankees had not. Well, since 2009 came along, that's no longer true. So we have to revert to saying, "Well, at least our teams have fewer jerks."

Orel Hershiser, 1989 Upper Deck: Twenty-two years ago this month I had one of the greatest 31 days of my life. This card should win just because of that.

Evan Longoria, 2008 Topps U&H: My biggest hope for knocking off the Yankees in 2010. The Rays are about the only team that I believe can do it.

Trevor Hoffman, 2006 Topps U&H: The guy sure has blown some big games, and pitched for a long time for a team I don't like. But you've got to respect all those saves.

Wow, a lot of Updates & Highlights in that group, huh? Pretty weak.

Do me a favor and vote for Orel. Come on, my team isn't in the postseason.

Comments

I'm voting for Orel. Not because your team is not in the playoffs and certainly not for your lack of faith in my Rangers (I get it though), but because it is the best of the bunch. By a longshot.

Verifictaion word: "tailic" as in that is my dogs favorite past time.
