Ladies and gentlemen, the 2010 Topps design, the most modern, cutting edge, futuristic design that we know:
What? That's not it? You say that's the design for a 2002 card? The 2002 Post set? An oddball set?Hmmmm. Could have fooled me.
(I actually like the 2010 design. A Topps set that looks like an oddball set is cool with me).

That's what I thought when I saw it, it does look nice though!
I thought of the exact same Post set when I first saw the 2010 image too! That's alright though, I spent tons of money buying cereal boxes to finish my Topps Post set back then - and donated most of the cereal since I don't eat much breakfast... That said, I'm excited for the set because I always thought that Post set was quite nice.
I don't eat enough cereal to have recognized that set. Maybe I should start eating more cereal?
The design is nice, nothing special, but solid. They really seem to be toning it down a bit since the 07 & 08 designs.
I thought I saw that design somewhere else! Well... there it is.
I love cereal.
HA! I just sent a pack of that Post set to Dinged Corners!
Normally I don't like to stir the pot (I let my lady do the cooking)or voice a dissenting opinion (I was born without a backbone), but I barfed earlier today and it looked better than 2010 Topps. That's really the best their creative team could come up with, a recycled design from 2002? Lord knows I'll still buy 'em, but that doesn't mean I need to enjoy it. Woof!
You beat me to this one Night Owl! I was busy writing an ode (http://baseballdad-mytribeblog.blogspot.com/)in response to our ex-Tribe manager.I found some of those "Post" cards in the same box that the Nomo card was in last night.I was going to write a similar post!I do like the new design. The Nomo will be on it's way.
I knew something looked familiar about it. I remember getting a few of those Post cards (in my cereal, I guess?) back before I started collecting again. I think I have Luis Gonzalez and Sammy Sosa laying around somewhere.
Sy Berger is probably pissed as heck right now. Topps needs to fire some of the nit-wits that designed the 2010 design and let Berger design the set. Heck, me and some of the guys on the Custom Card Blog could make better designs. I'm a Topps guy, so I'll still buy some packs of the set next year, but Topps needs to step it up. It's not even the fact that they were lazy by copying old designs that ticks me off, it's that the design isn't even halfway good. Where's the gold foil? Where's the team logo? Next years set will make 1991 Fleer look like 1954 Topps.
Why would you bother putting any effort into designing a set if you already have exclusive rights and folks had to buy whatever trash you put out.
Get ready for $4.99 Packs.
Not bad, but they should have just used the '02 Post design. I thought to myself when they came out, "Topps should just use this for a base set. They're nice!"
