Giddy

This is another first, so you'll have to bear with me. I'm a bit giddy.

I received an email from UPS yesterday afternoon, at the request of Atlanta Sportscards. UPS was informing me that my hobby box of 2009 Allen & Ginter has been SHIPPED!!!!!!!

Oh, sweet, wonderful, happy day.

I have never bought an entire hobby box of anything before, let alone received a box of Allen & Ginter in the mail. But by the time the week is out, the box will be in my possession, and I will be on vacation. Twenty-four wonderful packs and nowhere to go, at least for the first few days. And a rootin'-tootin' Gint-a-Cuffs contest to participate in to boot.

I don't think I can express how deliriously happy I will be at that moment.

So, I'll let Chase Utley say it for me.

Chase? You have the floor ...

(*Chase steps up to the microphone*): "ALLEN & GINTER! ... ALLEN & F---ING GINTER!!!!!"

OK, Chase. Thanks. I think you've spoken for everyone. (Someone drive him home please?)

The countdown has begun.

(Disclaimer: Chase Utley did not really come on this blog and curse. For all I know, he doesn't have any idea that Allen & Ginter exists. Or that Night Owl Cards exists. Or that card blogging exists. Geez, this is depressing. I'll stop now).

Comments

I'm pretty sure if they had put a thought bubble over Chase's head it would say "Night Owl's blog rocks".

Mine arrives on Thursday, but I'll probably have to wait to actually open it. You see, my lovely girlfriend got me a box for my birthday (which isn't until Monday) and I don't want to ruin her birthday present to me, the man she loves, by opening my box first, and stealing her thunder.

I'll bet I can sweet talk her into giving it to me early... like Thursday early. I mean it is MY birthday after all.

I'm manning up and buying mine today at the hobby shop. I'm sure it'll cost be a bit more than I'd like to spend, but damnit this product has been killing me for three years now.

I need to promise myself that I am buying one ... and only ONE ...hobby box. Dave and Adam's is already up to $89/box, so I'm guess I'll probably be out $125 or so this afternoon. Especially since there are three hits per box. I know one thing though ... I better not pull more Rich Harden jerseys. I pulled THREE of them last year between my one hobby box and four blasters. Screw Rich Harden.

A&G is scary because there seems to be something of value in every other hobby box. In some cases, there is one card in every two boxes that seems to pay for a whole box, or most of it anyway.

Well, if the Gint-A-Cuffs rules permit two boxes, then perhaps I shall go that route to maximize my chances of winning the prestigious title of Gint-A-Cuffs champion.

Ooooooh ... just got an e-mail from my hobby shop. I've got two at $95 per. Now I'm counting the hours and minutes until I can get there.

Blowout and ATL Sports cards still had them 74.99@ as of yesterday. Blowout still has that price today, as a matter of fact...

Yeah, I bought mine from ASC for $73. Plus shipping charge.

Still need to post my break, but I managed a Dominique Wilkins auto. Not Phelps, but not a common either.

I got ahold of mine at Blowout for $73.99. If not for that price, there'd be one less person in Gint-A-Cuffs Celebrity Blogstars Battleganza. Expecting it by next Wednesday or so.

That 'Nique auto is a pretty strong start to things.
