Should this set be called ...
... the "Lichtenstein set" ...
Out of the comments entered here, those are my two favorite definitions. Both are very appropriate, I think. The first is a tribute to famed pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, whose use of dots of different color, size and spacing (called Ben-day dots), produced iconic paintings like "Girl With Hair Ribbon" above. Comic book fans would be very familiar with Lichtenstein's work, and as we well know, there are a few comic book fans in the baseball card collecting community.
The second, "the dot matrix" set, works very well, too. Some of you may have cursed your old dot matrix printer, but dot matrix reminds me of LED displays, especially old-style scoreboards that you'd see at ballparks. And you know how much I love lights at night.
So, the poll is up on the sidebar. What should be the name for the 1990 Topps design? Sorry, "crap," isn't an option.
