Finally won one of these

Every year for the last four years, Bubba's Bangin' Batch of Baseball Bits emerges in July from a semi-slumber for the holiday that is Allen & Ginter Release Month.

I participate in the festivities every year because Matt makes it fun, and, of course, there is the chance to win Allen & Ginter cards.

I haven't entered all the various mini-contests, but I do enter many of them and I plain struck out the first three years.

This year I lucked into a victory. Fourth time's the charm.

I didn't have to do much to win. I think the randomizer picked my name from the comment I made. But I DID predict my victory. My comment:

I need to do that more often.

Matt generously offered up several prize options to the winners. I believe one of the options was close to a full 2018 A&G set. I considered that briefly, then wondered where the heck the binder for that would go and went with a smaller selection of interests.

Such as:

MINNNIIIIISSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Still trying to fill that A&G frankenset binder. You're looking at six minis that have all qualified for the binder. I barely know who Nick Delmonico is, except he is the designated rookie guy for the White Sox this year. In a just world, Delmonico would never sniff my A&G frankenset binder, but that franky can be ruthless.

For example:

These are the minis from Matt that did not make the frankenset binder.

I'm a little disappointed by Sloane Stephens failing to qualify (the Iron Sheik is blocking her path). The three baseball guys will get swooped up in trades in the future, I'm quite sure. (altho I may have to keep the Acuna for myself considering).

Of course, these Dodgers will go in the Dodger mini binder. These are my first two 2018 Dodgers A&G minis.

Matt threw in a few extras, including a couple of A&G base card Dodgers. I'm knocking off these cards quite quickly.

Also, players are sneaking their way into insert sets that wouldn't otherwise include players, such as the baseball superstitions and baseball equipment of the ages inserts.

Here is a disembodied head of Joc Pederson floating against a city park backdrop. But this weird item does go in the Dodgers binder.

More baseball equipment insert cards comin' at ya. I figured the execution of this theme would be difficult and it seems that I am right.

A few more insert minis. That Geronimo image has appeared in Allen & Ginter before.

And, finally, a few more full-size inserts where you expect the ballplayers to be.

I have officially completed the team set for the World Talent cards now and am a Jackie Robinson Fantasy Goldmine card away from that team set.

Matt is my kind of blogger because he understands the intrigue of Allen & Ginter every year and then he spreads that enthusiasm around with his contests!

He also lets me win once in a while.

Nice to see they used a Koufax pic that hasn't been used a hundred times. But I have to admit I read an explanation of Fielding Independent Pitching and I still don't understand it.
well if you decide to "unthink" keeping acuna, I'll make a bid at him. congrats on winning!

Congratulations on the contest win... and thanks for pointing out that Matt has a blog. It's taken me three years, but I've added him to my reading list and look forward to reading future posts.
