Minding my p's and q's ... and r's and s's

I'm long overdue in showing off the latest card bombing from Johnny's Trading Spot. Per usual, he's been updating his collection alphabetically and finding the guys no longer of interest to him and using me, and others, as the circular file.

Judging by what I received, he's recently gone through the P's and Q's ... well, there were no Q's, but that's how we get to the R's and S's (essess), which were also in the box.

I should have shown these earlier because my pattern is to post them to the blog before I file them away. But I just completed a big Dodgers binder sort (there's about two of those a year), so now these are going to have to wait until the fall to get added.

Oh well, something for everyone to look forward to -- the cards, me, and you, the reader, who just loves to read "here's more stuff I got" posts!! You know you do!

To keep this manageable, I'm just showing off 12 key cards for the collection, though there was a lot more than those that made the collection. No order to this just numbering them 1 through 12 and being done with it.

1. Alex Call, 2025 Topps Heritage High Numbers chrome parallel

You'll see lots of Heritage. Those cards automatically are ones I most want. Alex Call has fit in very well with the Dodgers. He was pretty nondescript to me when he was with the Nationals but now I see how useful he can be.

2. Mike Piazza, 1994 Collector's Choice Up Close and Personal, silver signature parallel

You'll see lots of Mike Piazza here, too. There was more of him than anybody else in the package, just like the last box Johnny sent. I still need three more of the Dodgers to complete this parallel set. Time to update the Nebulous 9!

3. Albert Pujols, 2021 Bowman's Best

Albert Pujols played just part of one year with the Dodgers -- 85 games. That hasn't stopped me from owning 33 cards of him, which is more than the entire length of Ron Cey's Dodger career -- unless you start counting all the oddball variations.

4. Hanley Ramirez, 2016 Panini National Treasures relic

Fancy looking cloth card that implies that it's from a game on May 11, 2014 though it doesn't specifically say it is (but it does tell you that Panini's cards are not prepared or endorsed by major league baseball). The back says that Ramirez hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game for the Dodgers against the Giants, -- I read all this through a magnifier app because the print size could not be read by a 14-year-old with 20-20 vision.

Oh, by the way, the Giants won the game with three runs in the top of the 10th. And, yes, the serial number was placed on there crooked -- bless your heart, Panini.

5. Jackie Robinson, 2021 Topps Double Headers insert

Another reprint of the 1952 Topps Jackie card. A long time ago I filled a page with all the '52 reprints in my collection. Now I'm on to another page, I bet I'll fill that one up too -- all before getting the actual one.

These babies are double-sided. At least I have this card -- well, this card AND the card it claims to be.

6. Enrique Hernandez, 2025 Topps Heritage High Numbers blue parallel

Back to last year's high numbers. This seems like a night card and at card No. 604, I could use it for my night card binder because those pages with the higher numbers are pretty empty. May have to find a dupe.

7. Corey Seager/Trea Turner, 2022 Topps 6-4 Stars insert

This card brings up memories of me still attempting to track down every Dodgers insert and being frustrated that I couldn't snag this one. In fact it may have been the beginning of me officially deciding not to chase them all. Looking at it, I wasn't missing much.

This does capture a brief period, when Seager and Turner were teammates. It was only during August, September and October of 2021. Now both of them are off the Dodgers and missed out on two titles.

8. Mike Piazza, 1996 Fleer Ultra Diamond Producers insert

More Piazza. Finding new cards of him for my collection will never end.

9. Emmet Sheehan, 2024 Stadium Club Chrome

For as long as I've been a Dodger fan, I've picked an underdog on the pitching staff to root for. This is the current subject. He's had some good luck and bad luck this year.

10. Kenta Maeda, 2016 Topps Heritage Chrome

This is reminding me that I'm supposed to be chasing the Heritage Chrome Dodgers that I missed on the first go-round. It's not going very well.

11. Mike Piazza, 1995 Pacific Gold Crown Die Cuts insert

I never expected to get the Piazza one of these before the Chan Ho Park. It's an upside down world!

12. Jackie Robinson, 2024 Topps 1989-themed insert

Last individual card for this post. This is the "third-to-last" card I need for the Dodgers from this particular insert set. Only 2 guys named Ohtani and Yamamoto left.

So, believe it or not, I kept that rather brief.

Because these are the rest of the cards that I needed.

Oh, and, these are the cards from the box I didn't need:

 Dodger fans, hit me up.
