Almost no words

A member of The Infield is gone. The Dodgers announced today that Davey Lopes passed away at age 80. He was a central part of my earliest years as a baseball fan. That 1976 Topps Record-Breaker card is in the top 10 of cards that meant the most to me as a boy.

RIP.

He was a talented player.

Being from Chicago, I remember when Davey played for the Cubs in 1984. An odd sight but a welcomed one.

May he rest in peace
Former Padres coach included in Padrographs. I lived in Rhode Island for awhile and followed him in the Dodgers years.

Hearing news about guys I pulled out of packs of cards passing away is never easy, but this one hits a little harder.

PTI did a nice tribute to Davey on yesterday's telecast. Both Tony and MIke had nice things to say. Worth checking out

Not to make you feel old but his 1987 record breaker is one of the first cards I remember owning… Quite a career to have showed up in that subset over a decade apart.

I still have a mid 70s Cubs program at Wrigley Field with the Dodgers in town I received a Dave’s Lopes autograph and this was very Cool! This was during my early era fandom of Dodgers baseball.
