Downsizing continues

I should probably post some thanks here for Nachos Grande running the end of the year awards again this year and allowing me to win Blog o' the Year for a fifth time.

I appreciate it after so many years of doing this because like I've said before, blogging about cards is far from the hot, young thing it once was. Folks still voting for NOC all these years later means I'm still doing what I set out to do -- writing about my love for cards and trying to do it in an interesting way. Glad to still be of service.

OK, now on to getting rid of some cards.

The last downsizing session a month ago was an immediate success, much to my surprise. So I'm going to try again with some slightly -- very slightly -- more interesting cards. As a refresher, I need to get cards out of my house. The card room is sizeable but can no longer hold everything. In order to make room for more cards I have to get rid of cards that aren't useful, i.e., have been stashed in boxes for years.

My goal is to give away these cards all in one shot to the first taker. Just be the first person to comment that you want them AND send me an email with your address. I'll allow a week for someone to claim them. After that I take matters into my own hands, which could mean trashing the cards.

This time there is around 250 cards that need to go. Here is a general view:

At the top is one of my least favorite sets of all-time, 1992 Donruss, just over 50 cards there. In the middle are some Bowman/Bowman Chrome cards of mostly prospects -- similar to what was in the last stash, nobody who really made an impact. And at right is more Bowman, from the 1990 and 1991 sets, honestly two of the most boring sets ever made, but there are a couple stars in there. About 40 cards total.

In the bottom row, around 50 cards from 1981 Donruss, these are all extras that have been languishing for quite awhile. 1981 Donruss is not a favorite in the Bluesky weekly giveaway for whatever reason (card stock?). In the middle are Fleer prospect cards from the mid-1990s and a handful of Fleer from around 2007, less than five cards. Finally, at right, a bunch of 1990 Swell extras and, yes, there are duplicates. I'm guessing that 1990 Swell was printed many more times than 1989 and 1991 Swell, which I'm still trying to complete.

So, again, I don't know if that appeals to anyone (I sure can sell it, huh)? Also I don't know how many people are reading just before the holidays, but I won't do anything with these cards until at least the 30th.

And there will be more downsizing sessions on the way.

I totally understand downsizing. I got rid of a bunch several years ago. It’s so nice to have a more stream-lined collection. I am not interested in this group as a whole but if you post more of the ‘81 Donruss in the Sunday giveaway I will gladly claim them.
Nothing about a '56 Jackie Robinson in the giveaway?? I just want to make sure I didn't miss that surprise inclusion. Good luck downsizing. "And miles to go before [you] sleep."

I totally missed the Blog Awards. Must have forgotten to add Nachos Grande to my feed when I resurfaced. Congrats on continuing the dynasty! I honestly made a run for Blogger of the Year once, when I was doing All Time Teams and such. But I learned that Night Owl is inevitable.

I'll be happy to give all those cards a good home if you haven't found a taker yet. There's plenty I can use, Donruss in particular.

All right, I'll keep you on stand-by. If someone else wants to claim them, they'll get them.
