I'm very surprised that nobody's started a 1983 Topps blog yet. I've been considering it once I'm done with '82, but that'll probably take a few years to finish at the pace I'm going.

I'll never forget discovering Fleer in early '83 and I was like "what the %^&%@ is this?". I hated Fleer for that. The Topps design though, was great.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700049103080920994.post-70463328885012219372010-05-05T13:50:43.569-04:002010-05-05T13:50:43.569-04:00Good calls...I always felt that 1987 Fleer would h...Good calls...I always felt that 1987 Fleer would have been much improved by color coordinating the borders a bit. The blue was nice looking with some teams, terrible with others and always a bit monotonous.

Random fact: I bought a TON of 1982 Topps despite not liking the design at all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700049103080920994.post-9688698026132260672010-05-05T10:57:32.894-04:002010-05-05T10:57:32.894-04:00Never been a fan of '85 or '87 (mostly bec...Never been a fan of '85 or '87 (mostly because I quit in '84 and those signify the overproduction years to me). But I would put '83 Fleer in there too. I know they're kinda gray, but I always thought it was a classy design. I agree with the picks you have made, but a oouple of sets I like were left out because there wasn't room: 1985 Topps, 1987 Topps. It was a pretty good decade for Topps -- the only sets I wouldn't consider for a top ten would be 1982 and 1989.Matt Runyonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08386635541020320778noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700049103080920994.post-42543296013333313332010-05-04T22:26:17.070-04:002010-05-04T22:26:17.070-04:00'83 Topps turned me into what I am today. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but it is what it is.

I absolutely love the '86 Topps set I don't care what anyone says.

'87 Fleer is my second favorite set of the decade, that gradiant blue does something to me.

I have to admit, '88 Topps has held up surprisingly well.

I'll always have a soft spot for '83 Donruss. And '87 for that matter.

Now I'm just rambling.
