The earlier poster was correct about the stretcher:injury.

At the time, the OF fence was 6 feet tall made of actual fencing and a thick foam like railing. My memory is that it was a rifle shot that barely got off the ground and Office did go horizontal with the ball carrying him with it.

Another interesting thing: I met Mike Ivie 20 years later and asked him about it. He adamantly swears the ball was dropped. I don’t know how he could have seen that. I guess he reasoned that buzz Capra ran over and put the ball back in his glove!
Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01306126666622971352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700049103080920994.post-12598079387996697642017-08-23T21:22:04.838-04:002017-08-23T21:22:04.838-04:00I was there at Fulton Co.Stadium. What people don't often say about the catch is that Office sustained a back injury and left on a stretcher.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00014806835772882692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2700049103080920994.post-14925120486660447482017-06-13T21:22:42.862-04:002017-06-13T21:22:42.862-04:00I didn't know about Mr. Office until after rea...I didn't know about Mr. Office until after reading Cardboard Gods.
